Abstract

Purpose: The Purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between OCB and customer orientation on
organizational justice in clinical nurses.

Method: The subjects were 420 nurses working in 2 general hospitals. The data were collected from October 20 to November 3, 2006 using a structured questionnaire. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, t-test and ANOVA with SAS package were used.

Results: The mean score of the organizational justice perceived by nurses was 2.87. The mean score of the interactional justice was 3.15, distributional justice was 2.80, procedural justice was 2.68. The mean score of the OCB perceived by nurses was 4.35 and customer orientation was 3.72. ¡®Organizational justice perceived by nurses¡¯, ¡®Distributional justice¡¯, ¡®Procedural justice¡¯, ¡®Interactional justice¡¯ were positively related to OCB. ¡®Organizational justice perceived by nurses¡¯ were positively related to customer orientation, but it was not statistically significant. OCB and customer orientation showed a significant difference in age, marital status, education level, major field of practice, total numbers of years in nursing practice, and position.

Conclusion: These results contribute to develop the focused organizational justice strategies in order to improve the nurses¡¯ OCB and customer orientation.
